We BULK BILL consultations to Medicare, even if you have seen someone else in the last 3 years.
If your child is struggling to learn, I know you will want to take action immediately.

This checklist enables you to score your child and thereby discover if vision could be a significant factor in their learning difficulties.

2. Make an Appointment
A Behavioural Optometrist in an Optometrist who takes a special interest in the visual development of children, especially those who experience learning problems like dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Asperges or developmental delays.
This is a passion Darin has developed because he’s seen people he loves struggling through school, and he is passionate to do everything he possibly can to help children in need.
When coming to a Behavioural Optometrist Sunshine Coast parents will find someone who is dedicated to caring for their children. At Eye CU Optometrist, we work extra hard to relate to kids and provide the best level of care we can, using lenses and eye exercises to target eye problems, many of which can have a major impact on learning.
Has your child already had an eye exam at another Optometrist?
That’s OK, come and see us anyway. We will not charge you to examine your child, even if they have seen another Sunshine Coast Optometrist.
3. Choose How to Treat the Visual Problem
The role of a Behavioural Optometrist is not to sell glasses, it is to give you all the information you need as a parent to make the right decision.
That’s why Darin explains everything to you about your child’s vision, and he also explains exactly how the various conditions affect their school performance. He will then outline what he believes can be done to help your child, which may include glasses, vision therapy or just advice.
And you will not be forced into certain actions… Darin will simply outline the best mode of treatment, and YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!
Finally, every school-age child receives a complimentary vision report, so you can show this to teachers, tutors, support teachers or any other interested party. We are as close as your phone! It will cost you absolutely nothing to have a comprehensive vision examination for your child, even if your child has recently had an eye examination elsewhere at another optometrist.
or Call Us directly on 5457 3333
We always ask you to sit in on the consultation and encourage you to ask as many questions as you want, and we are confident that you will understand the visual issues your child faces. We want all parents to see the eye test, ask questions and get involved because you have the right to understand what is happening with your child.
While explaining what is happening with your child, Darin will clearly lay out how you can help your child, and he will explain exactly what you need to do, so you can understand and make the right decisions. He is the Behavioural Optometrist Sunshine Coast parents often turn to help them with their child’s vision and development.
Why Consider a Children’s Optometrist?
In the classroom vision is the dominant sense with up to 80% of all information coming in by the eyes. The visual skills we learn and acquire as we grow are what reading, spelling and writing development depends on.
If you are looking for paediatric eye care you are probably asking yourself, “How do I find a behavioral optometrist near me, right?”
The most frequent symptom of vision difficulty is not sore eyes, headaches or blurriness, it is poor concentration, something you frequently find among children with learning disabilities when they face school work or computer studies (but not computer games… there’s a reason for that, ask Darin later).
Why Consider Darin Browne and Eye CU Optometrist?
As a Behavioural Optometrist for over 25 years, Darin promises he’s not motivated by money or sales in glasses, but by seeing children who were once struggling at school overcome their learning difficulties and become successful students.
“My goals are your goals when it comes to helping children,” says Darin. “I have decided to focus on helping children with learning disabilities improve their concentration, motivation and to help them obtain the visual skills they require to shine in their academic endeavours. I use glasses and vision therapy exercises for children that I have designed myself and tested over years.”
After years of practice as a children’s optometrist, these are not idle words. Darin is a developmental optometrist with a proven track record for helping kids, and regularly receives referrals from most of the major schools on the Sunshine Coast, some close and some as far away as Gympie or Kingaroy.
“Plus,” says Darin, ” I have designed an exclusive therapy program especially for children with learning disabilities which is a lot more than just a string and bead exercise! In it we train skills like focus, visual memory, eye teaming, hand-eye, directions and fine and gross motor. By investing only 20 minutes a day you can radically enhance your child’s learning skills, from learning to hold a pencil to the basics of forming letters, right through to reading flow, following without losing their place and comprehension.”
If your child can learn these important basic skills, school can become fun and learning is easy!
Your Child Deserves a Fair Go in the Classroom!
Your child is not a little adult, so we examine a child’s eyes like they are kids, with all their needs and requirements.
A child’s vision is in a constant state of development, their needs are different, their ability to cope with stress is also different and the pressures they face are not the same as an adult. Trust me, there is more to testing a child’s eyes than measuring how farsighted or nearsighted they are!
Your child deserves the best eye test and most innovative treatment available, from someone who is passionate about helping them, competently trained and farsighted in his approach. We are different…
In fact, we’re so different, we want you to sit in and see for yourself, and understand why we would recommend certain lenses or therapies.
After all, you are with them every day and you know their problems better than most, so we should be providing treatment that makes sense to you as a parent!
So Why Not Come and See Us at Eye CU?
An eye test with Darin Browne at Eye CU is bulk billed, so it costs you nothing from your own pocket.
Darin has a passion and an interest in all aspects of children’s vision and developmental optometry, and he takes the time to design activities especially to help school-age kids achieve their goals in education.
